It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Reading ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Finneytown Wildcats 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since May 7, 2025.

Reading's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Hirt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Reading's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Finneytown, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reading will take on Hughes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Finneytown, they will face off against Shroder Paideia Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
