The Eastmoor Academy Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Independence for the full four quarters, racking up a 84-46 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Eastmoor Academy has managed all season.
James Nowell was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven assists and three steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephon Simpkins, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Independence's loss came despite strong showings from Ahmad Diagne and Amari Williams. Diagne scored 22 points, while Williams scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Diagne's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Eastmoor Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-4. As for Independence, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastmoor Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pickerington North at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th. Pickerington North is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Independence, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in West's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
