Chatham was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 40th to 33rd in A Western. The Cavaliers beat Nelson County 41-0 earlier in the week.
Dan River extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Gretna, 27-22. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Wildcats.
The Hawks' dynamic duo of Dyon Rosser and Will Lilly proved tough for Dan River to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rosser threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns and Lilly had 51 yards receiving. Kaylan Gilbert helped Gretna's passing attack out by catching two balls for 43 yards.
Justin Craft was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 101 yards as Auburn fell to Ferrell Edmunds' team. Teammate Dustin Simpkins added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
Kevin Saunders' team's Rosser and Gilbert have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Western in both passing and receiving yards. Rosser has thrown for 1740 yards this season, while Gilbert, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 40 catches for 582 yards. Cody Cain from Walker leads the league in rushing with 1228 yards.
Castlewood's Reid Edmonds is a mere 20 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Edmonds has rushed for 980 yards on 92 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Riverheads takes on Floyd County. The Gladiators are in third place, while the Buffaloes are in 11th place.
Chilhowie and Holston played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Chilhowie eventually emerging with a 31-30 victory.
