Walsingham Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Catholic Crusaders. Daniel Guntherberg made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Guntherberg was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Chandler Howlett was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 3rd. Edward Holstrom also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Walsingham Academy pushed their record up to 14-8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Walsingham Academy will challenge Norfolk Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Mighty Oaks at the right time seeing as the Mighty Oaks are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Catholic, they have already played their next contest, a 4-0 win against Peninsula Catholic on the 30th.
