Redwood is 8-2 against Branson since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Giants will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulls at 4:30 p.m. Redwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Branson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
If Redwood beats Branson with four runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Giants beat Petaluma on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Giants in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.
Matthew Knauer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Gersch, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. TJ Beck also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Branson might've scored the first runs on Saturday, but it was Berean Christian who claimed the real prize. The Bulls fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Bulls have lost by just one run.
Treyvor Mathews was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tom Lardner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Redwood's victory bumped their record up to 13-8-1. As for Branson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Redwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Branson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Redwood skirted past Branson 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Giants repeat their success, or do the Bulls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
