High school football rankings: Hamilton joins MaxPreps Top 25 after 28-12 win over Basha

Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) was the only new team to join the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings this week after handing Basha (Chandler, Ariz.) its first loss of the season.

Sophomore wide receiver Roye Oliver III led the Huskies (8-0) to a 28-12 win and the No. 20 spot in this week's rankings. Oliver broke the school record for most receiving yards in a season and career Friday. He finished with seven catches for 210 yards and two scores to go with a 59-yard punt return touchdown. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound pass-catcher brought his season totals to 59 receptions for 1,316 yards and 25 touchdowns, which is tied for the nation's highest total.

Looking ahead to Halloween night in Southern California, No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) closes out the regular season with a huge Trinity League showdown against No. 12 Mater Dei (Santa Ana). The Braves are looking to go undefeated during the regular season for the first time since 2018. The Monarchs have won the last three meetings and six of the last eight. We close out our MaxPreps Game of the Week tour in Florida as No. 14 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) hosts No. 17 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Aquinas has won eight in a row since dropping its season opener against Mater Dei. Chaminade-Madonna is riding a seven game win streak after a 42-13 loss against No. 2 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore).

The Florida powers met last year with Derrek Cooper and Camari Hall leading Chaminade-Madonna to a 29-22 win. The programs have combined for 25 state titles and both are riding state championship streaks. The Raiders have won six in a row while the Lions have won four straight. 

In Georgia, No. 8 Buford and No. 13 Carrollton are both in winner-take-all games for a region title Friday. The Wolves host Mill Creek (Hoschton) and the Trojans welcome Douglas County (Douglasville) to Grisham Stadium.
