La Marque is 2-8 against the Bulldogs since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The La Marque Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Sweeny Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. La Marque has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
Last Tuesday, La Marque was beaten by the Roughnecks 58-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points La Marque has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Sweeny fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Blackcats on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blackcats by a score of 45-42. Sweeny has not had much luck with the Blackcats recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kay'ana Britton, who scored six points along with six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma McCurdy, who scored eight points.
La Marque's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Sweeny, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
La Marque was taken down by the Bulldogs 68-23 when the teams last played back in January. Will La Marque have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
