The Schurr Spartans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Sylmar Spartans at 11:30 a.m. on December 29th.
Last Tuesday, Schurr had to suffer through a rough 65-37 loss at the hands of Calabasas. While losing is never fun, Schurr can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Calabasas is ranked 156th).
Meanwhile, Sylmar's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Eagle Rock and snuck past 73-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sylmar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gustavo Lopez, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The game was Lopez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joseph Dickson, Jr, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Schurr has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Sylmar, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-10.
