The Troy Flying Horses suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 77-54 defeat at the hands of Saratoga Springs. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while Saratoga Springs is ranked 198th).
Despite the defeat, Troy saw an underclassman step up: Stetson Merritt scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayne Behan, who scored 11 points.
Troy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Saratoga Springs, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troy will take on Bethlehem Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saratoga Springs won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ballston Spa at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Ballston Spa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Saratoga Springs likes a good challenge.
