After flying high against the Greeley West Spartans last Friday, the Longmont Trojans came back down to earth. Longmont fell 52-44 to Silver Creek on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Longmont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Silver Creek is ranked 20th).
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dominic Lombrano, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolby Holmes, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Longmont struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Longmont's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Silver Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Longmont will head out on the road to face off against Centaurus at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centaurus is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Silver Creek, they will be playing at home against Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greeley West is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
