Baseball Recap: Ripon Victorious

The Ripon Tigers beat the Central Wisconsin Christian Crusaders 7-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Shay Otto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Otto was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Otto wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braden Dudzinski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs Dudzinski has posted since back in April. Adam Mashock was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Ripon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Ripon's win bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Central Wisconsin Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Ripon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-2 victory against Randolph on the 17th. As for Central Wisconsin Christian, they will face off against Markesan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
