After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sotomayor, the Stevens Falcons were happy to have found some success on Friday. They secured a 70-64 W over Holmes. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Stevens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andra Stokes led the charge by scoring 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stokes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Giana Monda, who scored 18 points.
Stevens' win bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Holmes, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season.
Stevens will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Jay at 6:00 p.m. Jay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stevens in Texas (Jay is ranked 138th, while Stevens is ranked 631st). As for Holmes, they will head out on the road to square off against Sotomayor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sotomayor will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
