The North Brunswick Scorpions are taking a road trip to face off against the Purnell Swett Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Brunswick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Purnell Swett will be up against a hot North Brunswick squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. North Brunswick walked away with an 11-6 victory over Gray's Creek on Monday.
North Brunswick let Jonah Campbell and Fisher Goodwin run wild. Campbell scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Goodwin went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carter Cox, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
North Brunswick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Purnell Swett scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 15-10 to Gray's Creek. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Purnell Swett also got a good showing from Hudson Locklear, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Locklear has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Purnell Swett got a massive performance out of Mason Brewer, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Brewer has posted since back in April of 2024. Camden Hunt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
North Brunswick's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Purnell Swett, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Purnell Swett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Brunswick hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. It's a different story for Purnell Swett, though, as they've only averaged .204. Will they be able to contain North Brunswick's hitters?
