The South Plantation Paladins came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Stranahan 62-48. South Plantation pushed the score to 57-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mighty Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Harry Gelin, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Francis, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Stranahan saw an underclassman step up: Christian Yeargin scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
South Plantation is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Stranahan, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.
South Plantation won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Chiefs at 8:30 p.m. on January 26th. Cardinal Gibbons has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 637 points over their last ten matches. As for Stranahan, they will be playing at home against the Flying L's at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Lauderdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Mighty Dragons are ranked 42nd).
