The Southeast Golden Buffalo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-34 to Hutchinson. Southeast was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hutchinson apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2018.
Southeast lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Leela Jones, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xoey Watie, who scored eight points.
Southeast has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Hutchinson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast and Lawrence Free State will face off on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lawrence Free State is on a five-game streak of home losses, Southeast a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Hutchinson, Hutchinson and Shawnee Heights will face off at 11:00 a.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
