The Howells-Dodge Jaguars and the Wynot Blue Devils squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Howells-Dodge Jaguars had to settle for second. Howells-Dodge took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wynot. Howells-Dodge's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Howells-Dodge saw an underclassman step up: Hunter Luther rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Wynot's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Heine, who rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 158 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Wieseler, who gained 92 total yards and a touchdown.
Howells-Dodge's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Wynot, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Howells-Dodge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wynot will take on Sandhills/Thedford at 2:45 p.m. on November 20th. Sandhills/Thedford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully Wynot likes a good challenge.
