The Yorktown Tigers will square off against the Connersville Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Yorktown is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Yorktown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over New Castle. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Olivia Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

Yorktown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Castle only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Connersville fell victim to New Palestine and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Dragons. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Connersville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bre Brock, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Connersville's defeat dropped their record down to 22-10. As for Yorktown, their record is now 18-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Yorktown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Connersville struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Yorktown was able to grind out a solid win over Connersville in their previous matchup back in April, winning 13-8. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
