2A District 4 recap September 17, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Zac Floyd and Rilee Baker connected against Lone Grove. The longest such play in 2A District 4 this season, the connection resulted in 82 yards.
Marietta scaled the state rankings by moving to 145 from 191 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Indians climbed the ranks as a result of topping Elmore City-Pernell 28-24.
Floyd threw for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 18-27 with 0 interceptions.
Dakota Powell was the best wideout in the league this week as Coalgate topped Atoka. Powell racked up 9 receptions for 125 yards. Dillon Williams helped Coalgate's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 59 yards.
Ricco Bellettini was the best running back in 2A District 4 this week. He ran for 80 yards on 15 carries as the Wildcats defeated the Wampus Cats. Colby Jones also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.
Floyd put up the best numbers through the air as Tishomingo fell to the Longhorns. Floyd's favorite target this week was DeVante Lawson, who caught 5 passes for 101 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Floyd and Lawson, the Indians have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Floyd is tops in the league in passing with 277 yards, while Lawson has rushed for 222 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is Coalgate's Powell, with 128 yards on 10 catches.
Tishomingo lost to Lone Grove 62-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Floyd ran for 18 yards in the loss.
