After a string of three wins, the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-45 walloping at the hands of Pikes Peak Christian. Miami-Yoder was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.
Miami-Yoder's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Howard, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Howard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jel Wallerstedt, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Pikes Peak Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Wehner out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Harmon, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Miami-Yoder's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miami-Yoder will take on Non Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Park at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
