Silver Stage hasn't had much luck against Yerington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Nighthawks will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Silver Stage has given up an average of 21 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Silver Stage is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 30-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Wendover on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (12), the Nighthawks still had to take the loss.
Amy Welch was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring five runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Xavier Hines, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 5-for-6.
Meanwhile, Yerington was able to grind out a solid win over Oasis Academy last Saturday, taking the game 7-4.
Casey Bobrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Amaree Savage, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Valenzuela, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Yerington is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Silver Stage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Silver Stage hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Yerington struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silver Stage might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Yerington in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Nighthawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
