Baseball Recap: Amber-Pocasset Makes It Five in a Row at Home

While Amber-Pocasset's win against Hinton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Amber-Pocasset won by a run and slipped past Hinton 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won four in a row.

Tanner Sutton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Sutton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Budd, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another was Connor Copeland, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Amber-Pocasset pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hinton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amber-Pocasset will square off against Lexington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Lexington has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hinton, they will take on Dibble at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dibble will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Hinton surely won't give up without a fight.
