Fairbury hasn't had much luck against Central City/Centura recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Jeffs will head out to take on the Kernels at 12:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Fairbury beat Falls City 6-1. The Jeffs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Dom Joe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Fairbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Nippert, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Nippert posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Lucas Livingston also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Central City/Centura put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Wahoo/Bishop Neumann 11-2. Fans of the Kernels have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Central City/Centura also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Barrett Fries gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Colter Lueders was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Mason Gorecki, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Central City/Centura lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.
Central City/Centura's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Fairbury, their record is now 3-8.
Fairbury suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Central City/Centura when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Jeffs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
