The Williams Bulldogs lost against the Orange Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Williams fell 64-51 to the Panthers. Williams has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brian Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Milton Turner, who scored 15 points.
Even though they lost, Williams smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Orange found their leader in underclassman Coleman Cloer, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cloer has scored at least a third of Orange's points. Xandrell Pennix was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Orange, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-10.
Williams won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. River Mill is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Orange, they will head out on the road to take on the Fighting Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Ridge is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
