After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kennedy, Verdugo Hills was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Poly Parrots. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dons also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.
Verdugo Hills wouldn't go down easily and took Poly into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 18-25, 15-13.
Verdugo Hills got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Brink out in front who had 52 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Brink has posted over her last five matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Veliz, who had 28 digs and two assists.
With the victory, Verdugo Hills broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
