Basketball Game Preview: Fideles Christian Rangers vs. Horizon Christian Academy Warriors

The Fideles Christian Rangers will square off against the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fideles Christian has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Horizon Christian Academy will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Fideles Christian came up short against Lanier Christian Academy and fell 73-64. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Lightning are ranked 52nd).

Despite their loss, Fideles Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hudson Blackstock, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Blackstock is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Eli Shadburn, who went 7 of 13 en route to 19 points.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Horizon Christian Academy against Cornerstone Prep Academy on Tuesday as the team secured a 73-45 victory. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 23 points or more this season.

Fideles Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Horizon Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Fideles Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Horizon Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 74-65. Will Fideles Christian repeat their success, or does Horizon Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
