The Beachside Barracudas will square off against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beachside has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight defeats, while St. Joseph Academy will come in with three straight victories.
Beachside came up into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Tocoi Creek by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Barracudas have suffered since April 25, 2024.
Beachside got a good showing from Wyatt Winget, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Beachside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Ochoa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Gavin Nickel, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy earned a 5-2 win over Atlantic Coast on Saturday.
Garrison Wade made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Sean Miskowiec looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Eli Robshaw was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Carlos Willis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
St. Joseph Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atlantic Coast struck out 11 times.
Beachside's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
