The Willow Spring Storm will head out on the road to face off against the South Garner Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willow Spring is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-7, which was the final score in Willow Spring's tilt against Cleveland on Friday. While losing is never fun, Willow Spring can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Cleveland is ranked 11th).
Despite the loss, Willow Spring got a solid performance out of Cameron Howard, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown. Howard's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
Meanwhile, South Garner was beaten by Clayton 49-6 on Friday. South Garner has struggled against Clayton recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 3-4.
Willow Spring was dealt a bruising 65-6 loss at the hands of South Garner when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Willow Spring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
