After flying high against North Central last Monday, Lugoff-Elgin came back down to earth. The Lugoff-Elgin Demons fell to the River Bluff Gators 46-42. While the Demons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Gators 15-7 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Lugoff-Elgin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jordan Samuel posted 18 points and three steals. Samuel has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Wilson, who put up 13 points.
River Bluff found their leader in sophomore Jenna Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Powell Anne Dozier, who had seven points and eight rebounds.
Lugoff-Elgin now has a losing record at 4-5. As for River Bluff, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Lugoff-Elgin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 100-22 defeat against Camden on the 20th. As for River Bluff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-32 win against Westminster Catawba Christian on the 19th.
