After both having extra time off, the Grandview Wolves and the Vista PEAK Prep Bison will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Grandview's tournament run continued when they took on Castle View last Saturday. Grandview took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Castle View.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cole Holtman, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Noah Sevy was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista PEAK Prep). The stars were shining brightly for them in a 71-54 win over DSST: Montview two weeks ago. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bison with their most commanding win of the season.
Grandview better focus on containing Noah Adkins and Mitchell Oliver as the pair were huge in Vista PEAK Prep's win. Adkins went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Oliver went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Oliver a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquilos Mata, who posted ten points.
Vista PEAK Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.
Vista PEAK Prep's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Grandview, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Grandview has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Vista PEAK Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Grandview was able to grind out a solid win over Vista PEAK Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, winning 46-33. Does Grandview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vista PEAK Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
