The Southern Wayne Saints suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by C.B. Aycock on the road and fell 57-18. Southern Wayne was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-4.
Despite the loss, Southern Wayne still got an impressive performance from Wilberline Senatus, who scored four points.
It was another big night for Audrey Teasley, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and six steals for C.B. Aycock. Another player making a difference was Alonna Frederick, who scored 11 points.
Southern Wayne has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for C.B. Aycock, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Wayne won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Johnston at 6:15 p.m. on January 24th. The timing is sure in South Johnston's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Southern Wayne has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for C.B. Aycock, they will square off against Hunt at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hunt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday.
