The Conestoga Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 63-42 walloping at the hands of Palmyra. While losing is never fun, Conestoga can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Palmyra is ranked 114th).
Conestoga lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ayla Garrett, who scored 16 points along with four steals. That was a full 38.1% of Conestoga's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Davida Garrett, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Conestoga bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Palmyra, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conestoga the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Falls City at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Palmyra will take on Yutan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
