The Norfolk Catholic Knights will face off against the Wayne Blue Devils at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Norfolk Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Wayne likes a good challenge.
Norfolk Catholic is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Battle Creek: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Knights blew the Braves out of the water with a 70-32 final score. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Norfolk Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Schutt, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Schutt's 14th in a row with at least 15 points. Leighton Burbach was another key player, putting up five points in addition to 13 boards and seven blocks.
Meanwhile, Wayne posted their closest victory since December 31, 2025 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Ponca 35-33. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.
Norfolk Catholic better focus on containing Jace Jorgensen and Jaxson Kneifl as the pair were huge in Wayne's win. Jorgensen posted eight points and nine rebounds, while Kneifl had 12 points. Jorgensen is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Reinhardt, who scored six points.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Norfolk Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Norfolk Catholic has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Norfolk Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Wayne in their previous meeting back in January, winning 49-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
