The Tussey Mountain Titans are taking a road trip to take on Forbes Road at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Tussey Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Tussey Mountain took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Everett, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Warriors on Thursday.
Joslyn Raley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Lydia Zdrosky and Olivia Mills did most of the damage at the plate: Zdrosky went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Mills went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Mills a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyson Weyandt, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Forbes Road never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Southern Fulton on Thursday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 10-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Forbes Road's hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Mykenzie Vinson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Gretchen Flemming was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Tussey Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Forbes Road's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-15.
Tussey Mountain took their victory against Forbes Road in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 17-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
