Los Gatos is 9-1 against Homestead since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Los Gatos had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Milpitas on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Wildcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 15th (when they won 3-0).
Los Gatos never let Milpitas on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 27-25, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Homestead had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Matadors.
Homestead was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (100-99), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 19-25, 15-25, 25-18, 15-10.
Homestead's win came from a few key players Los Gatos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Natalie Chen, who had 31 digs and six assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last eight matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilian Logan, who had 33 assists and 11 digs.
Los Gatos' record is now 12-9. As for Homestead, their record now sits at 22-7.
Los Gatos came out on top in a nail-biter against Homestead in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
