Muncy and Bucktail are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Muncy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
Muncy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Lewisburg. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Green Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Chevelle Bauman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Vest, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Savannah Thompson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Muncy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bucktail scored first but ultimately less than Montgomery in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 3-2. The Bucks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Bucktail saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carrie Ditty, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Makenna Stone, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
The victory got Muncy back to even at 5-5. As for Bucktail, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Muncy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Bucktail struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Muncy suffered a grim 16-7 defeat to Bucktail in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
