Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Granbury

Granbury had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Legacy Leopards by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Granbury had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-13.

Granbury can attribute much of their success to Kyleigh Huggins, who had six digs and three aces. That's the most aces Huggins has posted over her last nine matchups.

Huggins wasn't the only good server: Granbury was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive games.

Granbury's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Legacy, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Granbury and Legacy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Pirates will challenge Wall at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (449 vs. 171). Meanwhile, Legacy (ranked 771st) will meet Monterey (ranked 285th) at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
