The Payson Longhorns scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They put the hurt on Crismon with a sharp 75-51 win. Payson might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Payson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominik Stuerzer, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. That's the first time this season that Stuerzer scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Hatch, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Crismon saw an underclassman step up: Mason Brown scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Colton Helland was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
The win got Payson back to even at 5-5. As for Crismon, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Payson will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Camp Verde at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Camp Verde focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. As for Crismon, they will head out on the road to face off against Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Apache Junction is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
