Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alvord). Everything went their way against the Bryson Cowboys on Tuesday as the Alvord Bulldogs made off with a 21-1 win. The Bulldogs have beaten the Cowboys the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cowboys has come to flipping the script.
Makayla Gresham made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Gresham was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jayden Peters was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Bell, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Alvord always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .757. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Alvord's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Bryson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.
