Cedar Ridge is 0-4 against J.F. Webb since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Fighting Red Wolves will head out to take on the Warriors at 5:00 p.m.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Cedar Ridge and Western Alamance, and Western Alamance kept the tradition alive. The Fighting Red Wolves fell 8-3 to the Warriors on Thursday.
Cedar Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Best, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Best has hit this season.
Meanwhile, J.F. Webb is still undefeated this season after their game against South Granville on Thursday, but South Granville came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Warriors came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Vikings. The eight-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Simone Ovando was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makayla Jennings, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
J.F. Webb's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Cedar Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedar Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like J.F. Webb struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cedar Ridge might still be hurting after the 17-1 loss they got from J.F. Webb in their previous meeting back in April of 2017. Can the Fighting Red Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
