The Milan Wildcats were the 40-38 winner over the Putnam County Midgets when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Milan was the victim of a rough 71-46 defeat at the hands of Putnam County on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Milan still got an impressive performance from Ahmet Niasse, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Niasse scored a full 39.1% of Milan's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jared Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Milan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Putnam County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Shelby at 7:30 p.m. on January 26, 2024. As for Putnam County, they will head out on the road to face off against Schuyler County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
