The Alexander Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 29 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 59-22 win over Paint Valley at home. That 59-22 margin sets a new team best for Alexander this season.
Alexander got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaylee Hudnall out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The contest was Hudnall's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lily Ryder, who scored 16 points along with seven steals.
Despite the loss, Paint Valley saw an underclassman step up: Karris Dye scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Dye scored a full 63.6% of Paint Valley's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Paint Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Alexander racked up 11 assists.
Alexander has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Paint Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Alexander will head out on the road to face off against Meigs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paint Valley, they will look to defend their home court on January 6th against Piketon at 7:15 p.m.
