2A District 4 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Dexter and Eunice played the most hotly contested game in 2A District 4 this week, with Dexter eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory.
New Mexico Military Institute took down Loving 21-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Todd Dennis threw for 126 yards and one touchdown and ran for three yards in the win.
The Colts' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Chris Sharfin chipped in 71 yards. Kilian Cahill helped New Mexico Military Institute's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Blade Allen was the best wideout in the league this week as New Mexico Military Institute topped the Falcons. Allen racked up three receptions for 61 yards.
Randy Montoya's team's Allen and Cahill have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Allen has thrown for 287 yards this season, while Cahill, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has nine catches for 161 yards. Eric Leyva from the Cardinals leads the league in rushing with 464 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 4 this week will be when the Colts take on the Demons. At the moment, New Mexico Military Institute is in fourth, while Dexter is in first.
The Colts made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 14,038 from 14,366. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 21-6 victory over Loving last week.
