Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cornerstone Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past The Grove School Ravens 19-0 on Monday. Considering the Crusaders have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucas Gomez-Creguer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gomez-Creguer was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Cornerstone Christian got a massive performance out of Jackson Kirby, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Kirby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alec O'Sullivan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Cornerstone Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Cornerstone Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for The Grove School, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Cornerstone Christian will host Packinghouse Christian Academy at 2:45 p.m. on the 15th. As for The Grove School, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-13 win against Norton Science & Language Academy on the 8th.
