Softball Recap: Mcdowell Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

McDowell lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Warren, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Trojans never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Trojans have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabriella Deluca made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Avya Mickel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Mya Kaliszewski was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

McDowell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .808. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

McDowell's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

McDowell will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
