The Academy for Academic Excellence Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 62-48 bruising from Hesperia Christian. If Academy for Academic Excellence hoped to take revenge for the 65-62 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Arlan Koester was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds for Hesperia Christian. Koester is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Flores, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Academy for Academic Excellence bumped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Hesperia Christian, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Academy for Academic Excellence will be playing at home against University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Hesperia Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
