Basketball Recap: Cannelton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cannelton entered their tilt with Lighthouse Christian Academy on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Lighthouse Christian Academy Lions 46-28. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 41-39 back in December of 2024.

Cannelton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Anastasiades led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Anastasiades has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hale, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Cannelton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Lighthouse Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ellie Mae Winders, who went 8 of 15 on her way to 19 points and seven boards, and Audrey Eason, who earned six points and nine rebounds. That was a full 67.9% of Lighthouse Christian Academy's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Adri Mckeel also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Cannelton pushed their record up to 7-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points per game. As for Lighthouse Christian Academy, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Cannelton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-12 loss against Christian Academy on the 28th. As for Lighthouse Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-19 defeat against South Spencer on the 25th.
