On Wednesday, Marshall took a serious blow against St. Michael the Archangel, falling 74-39. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while St. Michael the Archangel is ranked 67th).
Despite the defeat, Marshall had strong showings from Stephen Caviness, who scored ten points, and Brody Kueker, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Caviness' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Case, who scored seven points.
This is the second loss in a row for Marshall and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for St. Michael the Archangel, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Marshall is on the road again on Thursday and play against Odessa at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Odessa is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. St. Michael the Archangel won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
