The Parkway Christian Eagles will face off against the Inter-City Baptist Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Parkway Christian and Clarenceville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 19-4 win last Thursday.
Josie Boutorwick was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Baker, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.
Inter-City Baptist never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lutheran on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Warriors.
Brooke Anthony made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. Anthony was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.
In other batting news, Chloe Smith was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five runs. Ellie Millner was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
Inter-City Baptist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Parkway Christian, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Parkway Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Inter-City Baptist struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
