The Jacksboro Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 59-49 to Vernon. Jacksboro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vernon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylee Mathis, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Tullous, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Jacksboro has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season. As for Vernon, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksboro will square off against Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie is on a six-game streak of home losses, Jacksboro a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Vernon on the road again on Friday and play against Henrietta at 5:45 p.m. on January 26th.
