Austin Martinez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Burris, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The victory made it two in a row for Smyer and bumps their season record up to 5-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Seagraves, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Seagraves suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Smyer in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
